Our Society, Siragugal is formed by a group of people who would like to be involved in the development of children in the Nilgiris, especially those who belong to a less privileged section of Society.
Our aims are to promote:
The development of each child to his or her full potential
To give every child access to knowledge
To develop and promote learning and literacy skills
To encourage children to become confident and competent people
To promote imagination, initiative and independence
To create a feeling of good citizenship
the capacity to choose between ‘the widest possible variety of ways of life’
To fulfill these aims, we wish to create a Children’s Centre, where children will be exposed to books, games, activities, competitions of all kinds also to interact with people from many different walks of life which would broaden their lives and minds.
Siragugal means wings in Tamil, and we wish to give our children strength enough in their wings to fly away.
